Low Glycemic Index Diet And Diabetic Diet plan

Article by William Arner

The low glycemic Index diet has been popular in America for a number of years this is because it works for weight reduction and can be used in a diabetic diet plan. The vast number of Americans that suffer from diabetes (said to be around 23 million) could benefit from some form of weight management plan. The Lower Glycemic Index Diet is good to use as the basis for a diabetic diet plan because it includes meals which are on the lower end of the glycemic index which means that the body has less sugars and carbs to regulate. In the event you wish to start a lower GI diet plan I suggest that you first speak with your physician and let them know your plans. I would say this even when you are just seeking to adopt a more healthy way of life and not just to help control your diabetes.

The benefits of a great diabetic diet plan are, in this case with the lower GI diet plan;Carbohydrate balance. You’ll find that sufferers of diabetes are often frustrated from starting a diet plan if it limits the amount of carbs. To me this seems incorrect because most carbs will be turned into sugar. So surely you’ll need to understand how you have eaten. They do offer fuel for the body therefore the recommendation is for each adult to have 130 grams of carbs a day. Also a lot of vitamins and minerals are found in these carb rich foods. You might be able to control your diabetes purely with a Glycemic Index Diet:

The vast majority of individuals diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes are as a result of obesity and they are the people who will benefit the most from this diabetic diet plan. They might even find they do not need any medical interventions once they are on this diet plan and it is working for them. This diet consists of only foods that may be easily and safely processed by someone with diabetes. So this causes it to be easier to monitor your glycemic index. The quality of the foods included on the lower glycemic Index Diet plan; All of the foods which are allowed on the lower GI Diet plan are wholesome and healthy. Diets always seem hard to stick to, you are feeling you’re becoming limited and not permitted to eat some things. Whereas lifestyle is about choice, you chose because of your health not to eat certain things. By doing this you’ll find it much easier to stick with it and sticking with this for the long-term is what’s needed. As mentioned before, look for medical advice from a doctor you trust and can speak to, before starting this or any other diet. Particularly if you have a large quantity of weight to lose of you have already been diagnosed with diabetes. They can also help you track your weight loss and can be aware of the possible medical issues you might encounter while on this diet.

Solid and effective: The South Beach Diet

Solid and effective: The South Beach Diet

Article by Jo Campbell

As a practicing cardiologist Dr Arthur Agatson was getting more and more frustrated when his patients failed to lose weight. They were faithfully following the standard, low-fat American Heart Association diet on his advice, with no results. He noticed that, not only didn?t they lose weight, but their blood chemistry did not improve. The results he was looking for was an increase in HDL (good cholesterol) and a decrease in LDL (bad cholesterol). Eventually, he developed a new diet specifically for his patients, which later became the basis for his best seller book, The South Beach Diet, which was first published in April 2003. The South Beach Diet was on the New York Times best seller list for more than 96 consecutive weeks, and in excess of 8.5 million copies have been printed. The book was listed as #1 on the New York Times Bestseller list for 38 weeks.

Like many other so-called ?low carb? diets, the South Beach Diet assumes that many of us are addicted to carbohydrate-rich foods. The South Beach Diet is very similar to the Atkins Diet. They are so similar that many people believe the South Beach Diet is just a revised version of the Atkins Diet. The first phases for both diets are designed to get rid of the body?s addition to carbohydrates. Where the Atkins Diet has four phases, the South Beach Diet only has three, with a single phase replacing the second and third phases of Atkins. The last phases of both diets, again, are very similar. Since greater variety of foods are introduced earlier on in the South Beach Diet Plan, dieters tend to lose weight at a slightly slower pace than those on Atkins, but many find the South Beach Diet easier to follow because it is less restrictive.

This diet focuses heavily on balancing the blood sugar levels, and as such, the Glycemic Index plays a very important role in this diet. The Glycemic Index is a ranking system for carbohydrates based on their effect on blood sugar. On the South Beach Diet, carbohydrates are selected using the Glycemic Index tables; the lower the ranking the better. This also leads us to one of the South Beach Diet?s major differences from the Atkins diet. The South Beach Diet allows most carbohydrates (preferably only those high in fiber, like multi-grain bread and wild rice), while these products are typically just too high in carbohydrates for an Atkins follower, even on the maintenance phase.

Another area where the approaches of Atkins and Agatston differ quite drastically is on the healthy intake of fats. Atkins followers are encouraged to ingest saturated and monounsaturated fats in the first phase, and then gradually reduce the saturated fat content of meals during later phases as more carbohydrates are introduced. Dr. Agatston advocates mostly monounsaturated fats, like those found in olive oil, nuts and oily fish like salmon, throughout his diet. You will not find butter, bacon or anything fried in the South Beach meal plans, whereas they are positively encouraged during the first Atkins phases.

One of the benefits of the South Beach Diet over many of its competitors is that Kraft Foods entered into an alliance with Dr Agatston. Together they launched a whole range of South Beach Diet convenience products, which covers breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and even snacks. Examples of the convenience food on offer include breakfast cereal, meal replacement bars, frozen pizzas and frozen entrees. Dr Agatston once stated “My goal is to help change the way America eats, and these great-tasting, nutrient-rich products from Kraft are convenient, making it easier for people to follow The South Beach Diet – whether for a healthy lifestyle or weight loss.”

As with many of the other popular diet books on the market, it is very difficult to find specific scientific proof for the South Beach Diet. Some aspects of the diet may have been scientifically studied and reviewed, for example the benefits of monounsaturated fats, or the benefits of regulating your blood sugar. In general though, it is safe to say that the South Beach Diet is based on sound principles, and can offer you a well-balanced and sustainable way of life.

How to Choose Weight Loss & Diet Tracking Software!

How to Choose Weight Loss & Diet Tracking Software!

Article by S. L. Roy

Selecting the right weight loss software can very well be the difference between succeeding in your weight loss or not.

There are about 9 different competing weight loss software products on the market today. You can see most of them if you search for “weight loss software” on Yahoo.com or Google.com. What do they all have in common? They are all like a fashion show, telling you to buy them because they are the prettiest and have more colors in their screen-shots or because they have more options. This is NOT the way to select good weight loss software.

Remember, good weight loss software needs to be easy to use, that, without compromising functionality, could be used by your 95 year old grandmother! If a wiz-kid is the only one who can figure out all of the functions then the weight loss software won’t help you.

It is important to know about your own health and capabilities when taking on a weight loss program, and to remember that the weight loss software is only an AID and not a magic machine that has all the right answers. Remember to consult a doctor, fitness instructor and even a dietitian before you begin any major weight loss program.

How to Select a Weight Loss Software Aid:

Select weight loss software is easy to follow. The most important thing is that it has an interface to input the foods that you are eating everyday. The worst thing a program can do is just give a simple list of 10,000 or so foods and ask you to select the food you ate from that list. It takes you a long time to search through the list to find the foods you ate, even if they are alphabetically ordered, and they are often listed under categories that you may not agree with, for example, iced tea may be labeled under “pop” when you were looking under “juice.” It is best when you can simply type in the food.

The software also needs to give you easy ways to analyze and report about the information you entered. A good weight loss software does not tell you what to do because software can’t think…it is not a doctor, a dietitian or a fitness instructor, so it any software claims it can tell you what to do, run away from it! Software does not understand the issues with your specific weight loss needs, limitations or balance.

Good weight loss software will allow you to create a diet plan that fits your needs and that will allow you to lose weight, regardless or you starting size and weight. For this, we recommend Strip That Fat. The Strip That Fat System includes a Diet Creator that allows you to choose the foods you want to eat and will automatically create a diet for you that will help you lose weight.

The upgraded version of Strip That Fat also includes a calorie tracking system that will allow you to keep track of your intake and burned calories. This will lead to weight loss!

Conclusion:

Weight loss software simply gives you an analysis that then a human being can use as an aid for a weight loss program. Here are some things to remember when choosing weight loss software from Strip That Fat:

1. The best weight loss software is software that is easy to use and has food and exercise input interface

2. The best weight loss software provides easy to read reports and analysis of your food and exercise information

3. Weight loss is not a joke. Your entire body goes through extreme changes during weight loss, so never go on a program that suggests you take pills or other chemicals. Don’t go for a shortcut, because it will be a shortcut to the hospital.

4. Be safe, and use weight loss software as an AID only.

If you are serious about losing weight and want to get access to all the diet software you need to succeed, we highly recommend that you try Strip That Fat (it is guaranteed!).
