Look Better & Feel Great with Dual Action Cleanse!

Just Exercising Will Not Help You Shed Pounds

By: Alex De Mostafa

There is a common misperception that you can exercise a bunch and lose weight. People seem to want to ignore the common sense fact that getting into shape is a combination of diet and exercise. You see advertisements for diet pills saying, "Lose weight without exercise" or people saying to eat whatever you want as long as you exercise! Both of these are dangerous mindsets.

First of all, let's acknowledge that yes, you can lose weight temporarily through diet alone, or exercise alone. However, what's really important to recognize is that this simply is not healthy. If you exercise but eat horribly, you are endangering your body. This means your heart, kidneys, and everything else. Poor eating habits can even contribute to cancer and other very serious ailments. If you don't eat properly, this is a detriment to your immune system!

If you are tempted to try some quick fix for your weight or appearance, think again. You should do it right the first time. Two things will happen if you go about this in a wise manner. Firstly, your results will be more long term. Secondly, you will be healthier.

Don't underestimate the importance of actually being healthy. You are probably focused on the superficial since that is what other people notice at first glance. But if you want to live a long and happy life, you need to be healthy on the inside.

For example, let's suppose you want to look great so you can find the ideal romantic partner. What good is it for him or her if you die young as a result of failing to tend to your health on the inside? In such an instance, it would basically be doubly selfish of you not to look out for your internal physical well-being.

It doesn't matter what your reason is to want to lose weight or get in shape, you should still try to go about it in the right way. That means finding a combination of proper, moderate eating habits along with a reasonable, vigorous yet not over-straining exercise regimen.

Remember that, while it is true that your body has special needs that are unique and different from anyone else's, there are still certain absolute truths about what to eat and what not to eat. For example, trans fats and high amounts of saturated fats are not good for anyone to consume. Simple carbohydrates are not healthy especially in large quantity (such as bleached wheat flour, white flour, and so on). Hydrogenated oils are horrible for anyone to consume much of. And too much sugar or sodium intake is terrible for you.

It's not that difficult to look at the things you eat and make some better choices. Do so, little by little, until you have completely changed your diet. Perhaps don't call it a diet, either. Try calling it a food plan or an eating lifestyle. This way you have the mindset of these changes being longer-term, even permanent.

And when it comes to exercise, consistency is the key. Don't just start exercising and quit after a month or two. If you realize you've fallen behind, start back up and catch up. Don't think you've lost your momentum! You can pick right up where you left off, instantly!!! Even if you have to warm up again and work your way back to the number of reps you may have been performing of a certain exercise, you haven't lost your touch! So pick it back up if you fall behind!

What exercise should you do? Cardio is necessary for everyone. Walk, run, do a tread mill, walk or run in place, try an elliptical trainer machine. Any of these (or a combination) will help you shed pounds and keep your heart in better shape. You should also try to do some kind of weight or resistance training, which could be as simple as doing sit-ups push-ups and so on.

Remember that maintaining your physical well-being isn't rocket science. It simply takes will power and a little dedication. You've got it! Believe in yourself! But don't cut corners!
