How Much Does Liposuction Cost?

By: Richard Bonn

The surgical procedure of getting excess fats removed from various body parts is called liposuction. This surgery makes use of a tube like instrument called cannula. This cannula is attached to a suction pump to remove the excess fats from the human body. People all across the world have been opting for this surgical method to get a better body shape and to ensure that their body remains fit. There are several factors that have to be considered when one opts for liposuction. Cost is one of the major factors that is involved in this surgical method.

The cost of liposuction varies from region to region and from one country to another. The cost of liposuction includes various other costs i.e. it is made up of surgical as well as non-surgical costs. When it comes to the cost of liposuction, it is not necessary that if the surgery entails a high cost, it is bound to be successful. If the surgery is carried out by a surgeon who is not experienced and charges a lot of money, then the process fails. On the other hand if liposuction is performed by a very experienced and expert surgeon who does not charge a lot of money, it is assured that surgery will be successful. Therefore, price of liposuction is an important consideration, second only to the quality of the surgeon.

The cost of liposuction includes the hospital fees, the fees for various laboratory tests and the cost of garments and medications required after the surgery. These constitute the non-surgical costs. These costs can vary from one hospital to another and be even different in various regions. The surgical costs include the fees of the surgeon for each area that has to be operated upon during liposuction. These costs are almost the same in all parts of the world.

The cost of surgery on every area of the body is different. For instance if the surgery has to be performed on the abdomen, the cost varies between $3000 and $7500. Liposuction of the arms costs between $1500 and $5000. Facial liposuction costs between $2000 and $4500.

The cost of liposuction is determined by various factors. The cost depends upon the amount of fat to be removed from the body. If more fat has to be removed from a patient's body, the surgery costs more compared to when a little amount of fat has to be removed from the body. The number of areas to be treated also determines the cost of liposuction. If the number of areas to be treated are more the cost is much less as compared to when a single body area has to be operated upon. This is because the cost of surgery on the first body area is more and this cost gradually keeps decreasing with the addition of every body area. Also the experience and expertise of a surgeon have an affect on the cost of liposuction. If the surgery is performed by a highly expert and experienced surgeon, the cost is comparatively more than when the surgery is performed by a less experienced surgeon.
